walk days 3 and 4

On day 3 we walked from Roundwood to Laragh, most of this walk was just forest track and this was the day we visited St. Kevins monastery in Glendalough the monastic city.
On the 4th day we walked from Laragh to Glenmalure which was a pretty light day considering some of the mileage we had walked. This day was only about 8 miles. We stayed at the Glenmalure lodge which was the only thing in glenmalure haha.

While at this lodge, we really couldn't get great cell service because its in a valley, we had to go all the way out to the corner of the car park. While at the car park mum noticed these very interesting caravans. Gypsy anyone?!

Well goodnight, I'll be posting tomorrow.

Wicklow Way walk days 1+2

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the delay, internet at the last two B&B was not great. So We started our walk on Sunday in south Dublin, Marley park.
First we hiked over Kilmashogue Mountain and through Glencullen forest, the views were great! We stayed in Enniskerry at the Powerscourt arms B&B. It was lovely.

Our second day was much more strenuous because it was longer and harder terrain, plus we were already sore. So we got back on the trail in Enniskerry and made our way through Crone Mountain, and Crone Woods, then we hike Djouce (jowsee) Mountain.
We passed Lough Tay and Lough Dan:

We then got alittle lost after this and ended walking and extra 3 Km to the next town of Roundwood. We stayed at the Tochar House which was very nice. We are super sore, mums baby toenail is bruised and falling off, I have a wicked sunburn and blisters on my feet. Yet its still worth it :)

Night all!

Day 5!!

Well hello everyone,

Today was a relaxed day, we started off our day driving north to Galway and Connemara. We visited the Connemara marble factory, where they showed us 5 different types of lime stone that they produce in Ireland. All of the shades are beautiful, and I bought myself some earrings and a worry stone.
Next we visited Galway city and got to walk around, we had fish and chips for lunch and listened to the cutest band outside on the sidewalk.
After that we made our way back to Dublin for our final night of our tour. For dinner we hit the city, and found a pub called Merchants Arch, which also had live music, we went along with a really nice woman we've met, she's from Australia! We had the best night so far. Laughed and had a few drinks.
Night everyone! :)

Day 4!!

Today was a doozy!

First off, I think the whole jet lag and coach riding has caught up with us. Plus our second night in Killarney we had a next door neighbor who had his T.V on all night, literally to the point where it felt like it was in my room, so finally at around 2 AM I called the front desk and told them. He only ended up turning it down alittle, so we barely got any sleep. We napped in between stops today!

Our first stop was a ferry ride across the River Shannon, into County Clare. We headed to the Cliffs of Moher (more)! They were so breathtaking, we got to spend almost three hours there.
The total distance from one end to the other is 3 miles.

We then headed to our hotel, Bunratty Castle hotel, which is near Bunratty castle, where later tonight we had a delicious medieval banquet.
Even though it was a low key day, and we only visited the Cliffs of Moher, we are super tired. On to Galway and Connemara tomorrow! Oh and we got sunburnt today at the cliffs. haha.
                                                                        Night :)

Day 3!!

Good evening everyone,

Well today was once again a very packed day, but still a great day. Here are a few things that happened today: first we got on the bus and started our drive around the Ring of Kerry, very pretty!

Next we visited a sheepdog training demonstration for a taste of farm life and to see how the dogs herd their flock, which was actually one of our favorite parts of the day! Then we visited the Skellig experience which is all about the islands that were inhabited by early Christian monks. We then visited the town of Sneem to do some shopping. All of these stops were along the Ring of Kerry, we stopped at a great picture point at Molls gap for the Three lakes of Killarney.
Then we came back to Killarney for some dinner and walked the streets of Killarney, which is the cutest town and every pub which there is about 20, has live music!

Well I hope everyone back home is enjoying the summer, the weather here is sunny and hot, which is unheard of! :)

Day 2!!

Today was super exciting, we visited a lot of different places. We started our day off with a great hotel breakfast and sat with ladies from Oregon and a couple from Australia. Then we got onto the coach for a jam packed day of castles, shopping and sight seeing!

First up was the Rock of Cashel, which has scaffolding on it cause its under repair, but it was still a beautiful castle, former high seat of the kings.

Next up was a quick drive through Cork then Blarney Castle and the Blarney Woolen Mills :
At the entrance to where they kept the dogs, pretty much a basement.
This was the most beautiful Castle. We got to kiss the Blarney stone and shop at the Blarney Woolen mills, which is so big we didn't see it all. But I got some great Irish products.
Then we arrived at our next hotel in Killarney to start day # 3!

We ate a fabulous dinner at the Hotel then went to some local pubs for music and drinks. :)

Night everyone!

Day 1 !!!

Hey everyone,

So today was so busy, and it all went by way too fast! I'll give you the timeline of our day. First we arrived in Dublin at 5:30 am...11:30 pm your time. Out hotel transfer didn't arrive until 7am. So we had time to kill. I tried using my phone, only to realize that its not working over here, just moms is, at least I brought the laptop. :)

We met our lovely and TALL bus driver, Malachy Norton who is from northern Ireland, he kind of sounds Scottish. He brought us to out hotel, which is under new management and will soon be called doubletree hotel Dublin, owned by Hilton. It's called Burlington right now. Feels real swanky haha!

So we then took a nap for two hours and then got up and freshened up, and got some sandwiches and ate them by the river. It was such a lovely day, sunshine and upper 70's, which is apparently a heat wave! Then we hopped on our tour bus, for a view of Dublin. We visited Christ Church Cathedral, and had an excellent tour guide, who knew the littlest things. I tipped her 5 euros! Then we came back and changed, and got ready for dinner, at the Merry Ploughboy pub. It was a fantastic meal, and great entertainment. Irish step dancers and musicians. I ate seafood chowder for appetizer, limerick chicken with potato cake for dinner and Brambley apple pie for dessert! Just a wonderful night. We met some nice ladies form Maryland and a older couple from long island! There are people here from everywhere, south Africa to Australia!

So here is the Merry Ploughboy Pub:

Night everyone!!
